we work with local small businesses to source our beer, booze, coffee, tea, artisan cheeses, seasonal herbs and art. and, we’re always seeking to cook with locally grown vegetables by working with school garden programs, community gardens, and freight farms.
we believe in sharing positive vibes, giving awesome service, being kind to the planet, being change makers and doing things creatively.

with more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant business, chef donald lemperle was raised in his family-owned restaurant on staten island, new york.
he has cooked in some of new york city's finest restaurant kitchens including le bernardin, the quilted giraffe and the sign of the dove, shaping a valuable culinary foundation for his career.
he was the executive chef for park avalon restaurant in new york city, as well as executive chef for the james hotel and the mondrian hotel in scottsdale, arizona.
in 2005, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of bone marrow cancer. with this diagnosis, he decided to change his lifestyle completely, beginning with a plant-based diet.
healthier eating, exercise, and a positive mindset have our chef feeling fantastic and in remission. he always has lots of energy and vigor for life, and you can taste that in his food.
his transformation opened his eyes to the problems in our current food system and how it is harming our health and planet. chef donald made it his mission to make a difference in his local community by serving fresh, healthy, plant-based foods that are delicious, fun, and easy to get.

q. hi! i’m totally new here. what’s your deal?

q. do you guys buy from local suppliers?
a. we work with local small businesses to source our beer, booze, coffee, tea, artisan cheeses, seasonal herbs, and art. it’s pretty cool!
q. why are you a vegan restaurant?!
a. we believe in the food revolution. we seek to make better choices with the food we eat for the planet, animals, our health, and our communities. it’s amazing how plant-based foods can change the world!
q. i am not a vegan, vegetarian, or anything close to it… what the hell can I eat here?
a. first, welcome! we have everything from pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, to sandwiches. you’ll dig it! (and won’t miss the meat ; )
q. i need my protein.… where do you get your protein from?
a. good question. actually, plants have protein (we know, mind blown!). broccoli is 30% protein (4.2 grams of protein per 100g). we serve that shit, all day!
q. is everything organic?
a. we’re always seeking to cook with locally grown clean vegetables by working with school garden programs, community gardens, and freight farms. it’s a work in progress, stay tuned!
q. so, i’m allergic to nuts… what can i eat?
a. no worries, all dishes with tree nuts have a nut icon next to it. however, please keep in mind our kitchen contains nuts and cross contamination is possible. let your server know about your nut allergy and we’ll let the kitchen know!
